Dr. Shawn Lafkowitz
Dr. Shawn Lafkowitz graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan. After moving back to his home state of New Jersey, he received his dental degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry at New Jersey (UMDNJ), where he graduated with Dean’s List honors during all 4 years. During his dental training, he was actively involved with organizations such as the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society and Psi Omega dental fraternity. He was also the recipient of an honor for outstanding clinical communications.
Inspired by his father, Dr. Paul Lafkowitz, and a continued interest in the specialty of endodontics, Dr. Lafkowitz went on to complete his 2 year advanced training in the field of endodontics at UMDNJ. He graduated with the highest honors in his post-graduate residency, and co-authored 2 research papers published in the Journal of Endodontics. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, the highest honor bestowed upon an endodontist by the AAE for academic and clinical excellence.
Dr. Lafkowitz has a strong passion for his specialty, and believes in the field’s growing potential due to advances in dental imaging and working under the dental microscope. He continues to keep up to date with research and advances in the field with materials and technology.
He is an attending at the JFK Medical Center, where he trains the dental residents in endodontic procedures. He is a participating member of the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, and the Middlesex County Dental Society. He also stays active with his local dental community as an active member in the Millennium, Raritan Valley, and Central Jersey Dental Arts study clubs.
Dr. Lafkowitz and his wife Robyn currently live in Warren, NJ with their children Isabelle, Noah, and Quinn. He is passionate about music, movies, and travelling, and enjoys playing tennis and skiing. He also enjoys cooking and is always in search of his next great meal.
